About Amaka Ekwegh

Amaka, also known as Amy, is the author of Dodie the Donkey, a heartfelt children’s story encouraging young readers to embrace their uniqueness and develop true, lasting friendships.

She is a dedicated civil servant with more than a decade of experience in employment and training. Amaka brings insight, compassion and an understanding of personal development into her storytelling.

Her journey into children’s literature began with a childhood love of imaginative writing. It has developed into a mission to support positive identity formation, celebrate difference and encourage empathy in young readers.

Amaka has been an active member of the Kiddie-Writers Forum and has supported the CALFE bookstall at its Manchester venue. She presented her book digitally during the 2023 online event and developed it into an animation to engage children through visual storytelling.

She is currently scripting her second book and continuing her commitment to entertaining and inspiring young readers.
